Paint our Cat in the Hat Craft with Poms

  • Black sharpie
  • Clothespins
  • Poms

Step by Step Instructions for the Pom Painted Cat in the Hat

Start by printing the hat template.

Trim out the template, then trace it onto the base cardstock with a black sharpie. Draw horizontal lines across the hat as well to divide the red and white sections.

Next, prepare the red and white paint. Place each color in a palette or on a paper plate. Secure the poms you plan to paint with inside the clothespins. Smaller poms allow for more detailed coverage, whereas larger poms cover bigger areas faster.

After that, dip a pom into the paint and start stamping the hat’s striped sections with the appropriate colors.

Use one pom brush for the red paint and a separate one for the white paint.

Keep stamping along the hat.

What a fun, easy, and creative last-minute art project for celebrating Dr. Seuss Day and Read Across America!
