Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without a grinch or two, so we’re bringing you this charming Handprint Grinch Paper Plate Craft! It’s incredibly adorable, and even the tiniest hearts may grow a few sizes while creating it.
Making this handprint Grinch craft is wonderfully simple, requiring little more than a green handprint and a paper plate. Because we’re aiming to create Grinch crafts rather than become grumpy ourselves, we’ve added a Free Printable Grinch Template for the few additional pieces, making the project as easy as can be.
Which version of The Grinch do you enjoy most? You can choose between the original and the Jim Carrey adaptation. Personally, I’d say the original is always a great choice, although the Jim Carrey Grinch certainly has its own special time and place. Whichever you prefer, The Grinch is holiday viewing you shouldn’t miss, and this paper plate Grinch is another festive project you’ll want to make.
Christmas Grinch Handprint Paper Plate Craft
To begin our Christmas Grinch craft, print out our grinch template. You will also need paper plates, green acrylic paint, cardstock in black, yellow, and green, along with a black sharpie, scissors, and a glue stick, .
Although the template includes the sizes, you can alternatively use a 1.5” circle paper punch and a ⅝” circle paper punch to create the eye shapes.
Handprint Grinch Craft Supplies Needed
- Grinch Template
- Paper plates
- Green acrylic paint
- Cardstock – green, yellow, black
- Black sharpie
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Paper punches (optional) – 1.5” and ⅝”
Paper Plate Grinch Craft Step by Step Directions
Start by covering a paper plate with green acrylic paint.
Allow the paint to dry all the way.
As the paint dries, trace a handprint onto green cardstock.
Then, cut out the handprint.
Next, print the template and cut out each piece. Trace the eyebrows onto black cardstock, then cut them out. You can use either the circles included on the template or paper punches to make the larger yellow circles and two smaller black circles.
Once the paper plate has dried completely, attach the yellow circles in position as the eyes.
Position the eyebrows across roughly half of each yellow circle and glue them down. Point the eyebrow tips downward to create a slightly wicked expression.
Place and glue the two small black circles inside the yellow circles.
After that, draw a nose and a grinchy smile with a black sharpie. Use the photo above as a guide.
To finish this sweet Grinch craft, glue the handprint along the top of the paper plate. Attach it at an angle so it resembles a tuft of messy, tousled hair.
