Create incredibly cute autumn deer from one paper plate with this wonderfully simple Paper Plate Fall Deer Craft. The bright, colorful antlers are what truly make this cheerful fall project stand out. It’s a delightful and entertaining craft for the season!
While planning fall animal projects, we noticed we hadn’t created anything featuring deer yet. Deer are often associated with Christmas, of course, but these woodland animals deserve attention in autumn as well! Adding plenty of color to the project felt like the perfect idea.
Simple Fall Deer Paper Plate Craft
To make this fall deer craft, gather paper plates, gray acrylic paint, cardstock in black and any colors you prefer, a 1” circle paper punch, medium-sized googly eyes, scissors, and a glue stick.
Supplies for the Paper Plate Deer Craft
- Paper plate
- Gray acrylic paint
- Cardstock – black and assorted colors
- 1” circle paper punch
- Medium googly eyes
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Step-by-Step Directions for the Fall Deer Craft
First, paint one paper plate gray.
Allow the paint to dry fully.
After the paint has dried completely, divide the paper plate into four sections. You should end up with four triangular, pie-shaped paper plate pieces.
Using the cardstock color you selected, cut two strips across the width. Make one strip wider than the other.
Divide the wider strip into two pieces, then cut the second strip into four pieces.
To form the antlers, attach two of the shorter strips to each half of the wider strip.
Next, attach the finished antlers to the upper edge of the paper plate piece.
Use the 1” circle punch to cut one circle from black cardstock, then glue it onto the triangle’s point.
To finish your adorable, easy fall deer, attach the medium googly eyes. Since three paper plate triangles remain, you can create additional deer in even more playful colors!
