Lion Handprint Craft
This lion handprint project is a favorite because it uses only colored paper! Instead of attaching googly eyes and a pom pom nose, you can draw both features yourself.
Paint can also be used to create this card. Simply cover the hand with paint and press the print onto white cardstock.
Use the directions below to transform it into a card and write a sweet message inside!

Supplies Needed To Make a Handprint Lion
– Colored cardstock– we chose yellow and orange
–Black Marker
– Googly Eyes
–Small Black Pom Pom
–Glue– Standard glue or a glue stick. Since this craft is primarily made with paper, I prefer a glue stick because it creates less mess.

How to Make a Lion Handprint Card
1. Fold a sheet of yellow cardstock in half to begin.
Trace the handprint with the pinky positioned against the folded edge. Cut out the shape. As shown above, it should unfold into a card.
2. Create the lion’s head.
Using yellow cardstock, cut out a circle. Our free printable lion head template can be used for this step.
The template is located at the bottom of the post.
Cut yellow and orange cardstock into strips approximately 1 inch long.
Next, attach the strips to the circle’s backside to form the lion’s mane.
3. Add the lion’s facial features.
Use glue to place 2 googly eyes on the lion’s head.
Glue a small black pom pom in place as the nose.
Use a black marker to draw the mouth and cheek dots.
4. Glue the lion’s head onto the thumb section of the handprint card.
5. Attach 3 cardstock strips to the lion’s back to create the tail.
Finish by writing a heartfelt note inside your card!
This card makes a delightful gift for any celebration! It is also a fairly mess-free craft because it requires just paper and a handful of other materials.
