Supplies Needed
Just a few materials are required for this project. We’ve kept things easy with a free printable template, though you can hand-cut the shapes yourself if you’d rather.
- Cardstock – Yellow, Black, Red and White
- Black marker or sharpie
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Photo – choose an image with nothing covering the face, such as hair or hands, and make sure it is large enough to fit over the bee’s body. Print it on cardstock or photo paper if necessary.
- Free Printable Template– have the template delivered to your email below
What kind of glue should I use? Because this project uses paper, glue sticks are our favorite choice. However, white glue or school glue works nicely as well.

How To Make the Valentine Paper Bee
1. Begin by printing the template or sketching your own shapes.
- Outline the large heart onto white cardstock to create the wings.
- Trace the large circle onto yellow cardstock for the bee’s body.
- Use black cardstock for the bee’s stripes and antennae. The template also includes an optional stinger if you want to add one to your bee.
- Trace the small and medium hearts onto red cardstock.
2. Attach the large black paper strips to the yellow body.
Once they are glued in place, trim the edges so the strips fit neatly.

3. Attach 2 small hearts to the short black paper strips used for the antennae.
Next, adhere these pieces to the back of the photograph.
Then attach the photo to the upper portion of the body.

4. Fasten the heart-shaped wings to the back of the bee.
Write “BEE MINE” across the large red heart, then glue it onto the body.

Your children will adore creating this simple Valentine bee craft! They’ll have a wonderful time seeing themselves transformed into a cute little bee. Give it away as a Valentine’s Day present or display it on the refrigerator as a festive decoration!
