Let mom, grandma, an aunt, or any other meaningful woman in your child’s life know how special she is with this simple paper roll Mother’s Day project. Make it resemble her by selecting paper in a matching hair color or decorating it with extras such as flowers and buttons. If she uses glasses, draw a pair around the googly eyes with a black marker.
After making this adorable paper roll dad project, I decided to create a mom version too. The process was identical: paint the paper roll, then embellish it.
Simple projects are our favorite, especially paper roll crafts. They help us reuse materials already found around the house and are incredibly easy to transform into all kinds of creations, from a zebra family to the American flag.
If reusing paper rolls is not your preference, craft paper rolls are also available to purchase, especially for projects like this. They come in white and are slightly more durable. White paper cups can work as well.
Combine this paper roll Mother’s Day project with a Mother’s Day spinner or a bouquet of handprint flowers to make mom feel extra special.
Children can include a small message with their project too. Write it on a piece of paper, roll it up, and tuck it inside the paper roll. You could also stuff the rolls with a few treats for mom. If you do, consider attaching a bottom to the paper roll.

How to create a paper roll Mother’s Day project
First, paint the paper roll. We chose two shades: one for the face and another for the dress.
Snip a strip of paper and trim it to create bangs. We had fun experimenting with various hairstyles.
Attach the hair to the upper part of the paper roll with glue.
Stick on the googly eyes.
Draw the mouth with a black marker.
Decorate the paper roll with paper flowers, buttons, pom poms, or feathers.
