Paper Plate Hatching Chick Easter Craft Supplies Needed

  • Chick Oval Template
  • Paper plates
  • Acrylic paint – colors of your choice
  • Cardstock – orange, yellow
  • Metallic markers
  • Medium googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Hatching Easter Chick Step by Step Directions

Paint the underside of a paper plate using whatever colors you prefer.

After painting, allow the plate to dry thoroughly.

As the paint dries, print and cut out the chick oval template. Trace it onto yellow cardstock, then cut it out.

After the paint has dried, divide the paper plate in half with large, uneven zigzag cuts.

Use markers to embellish the paper plate. Stickers would work nicely too—decorate it in any way you like. This can also be done before cutting the plate, whichever method feels simpler.

Attach the lower part of the oval to the lower half of the paper plate, then glue the upper part to the top half. When finished, part of the yellow chick should appear between the two sections.

To finish, attach the googly eyes. Then cut a fairly large triangular beak from orange cardstock and glue it into position.

What a charming Easter chick craft! We really enjoyed creating ours, and we hope you enjoy making yours too!
