Today, we’re bringing you what may be the sweetest Earth Day project ever. This Earth Man Craft is incredibly charming, very simple to create, and an ideal activity for honoring our planet. He’s even cradling a heart in his hands.
We’ve added a Free Printable Earth Template for you to decorate in any style you prefer. We used paint for our project, though markers, crayons, or colored pencils would work just as well. Feel free to decorate the Earth in any colors and pattern you choose.
Earth Day Earth Man Craft
To create these Earth characters, start by printing the Earth template.
You’ll also need coloring supplies. We opted for paint, along with red and white cardstock, pipe cleaners, medium sized googly eyes, a black marker, scissors, and tape. We used self-adhesive googly eyes for this project, but if yours aren’t adhesive, you’ll need glue too.
Earth Man Craft Supplies Needed
- Earth Template
- Cardstock – red, white
- Pipe cleaners – blue, green
- Coloring materials (paint, crayons, etc.) – blues, greens
- Black marker
- Medium googly eyes
- Tape
- Scissors
Earth Guy Craft Step by Step Directions
First, print the Earth template onto sturdy white cardstock.
Decorate the Earth with color. We used paint for our version, then allowed it to dry fully.
Once the paint has dried, carefully cut out the Earth.
Next, cut a heart shape out of the red cardstock.
For each Earth character, you’ll need 2 pipe cleaners. Cut each one in half.
Turn the Earth over so the back is facing up, then tape two pipe cleaners onto it to create the arms.
Secure the remaining two pipe cleaners as legs. Curve the ends of the legs to form feet.
After that, attach the googly eyes. Use the black marker to draw a small, uncomplicated mouth.
To finish, tape one end of the pipe cleaner arms onto the heart. Bring the second arm over to the heart and secure it with tape too.
These Earth characters are a delightful way to celebrate our planet and express how much we care about it. They also symbolize the love our Earth gives back to us.
