First, download our Free Printable Circle Template to use as the foundation for your suncatcher. After that, cover the open circle with tissue paper. Projects involving tissue paper always turn out wonderfully. I’ve always enjoyed how it brightens any craft, and it creates the same effect with this Earth project.
Earth Day Suncatcher Craft
Before beginning this Earth suncatcher project, print our circle template.
You’ll also require black cardstock, tissue paper in pink or red, green, and blue shades, clear contact paper, scissors, plus a single hole punch and twine if you plan to display it as we did.

Earth Suncatcher Craft Step by Step Directions
Start by printing the circle template, then cut it out. Be sure to remove the inner circle carefully as well.
Next, place the circles onto black cardstock and trace them using a white paint pen or metallic marker—anything that stands out.
Trim around the outer circle. Afterward, ask an adult to carefully cut out the inner circle too.
Then, trace the outer circle onto a sheet of contact paper. If yours behaves like ours, it may curl up. Roll it in the reverse direction, and it should become flat enough to handle.
Trim the contact paper to size. Two pieces of contact paper this size will be needed.
Place one piece of contact paper over the circle.
Next, form a heart in the middle of the circle using pink or red tissue-paper squares.
Once the heart is complete, use green tissue paper to create the continents.
Cover the remaining area with blue tissue paper. We chose both a light blue and a deep blue.
After that, place the second circle of contact paper over the tissue paper.
At last, if you’d like to display your suncatcher, punch a hole near the top and thread a piece of twine through it. We felt twine was the perfect choice because it had the most natural, Earth-friendly look.
Now you have a lovely Earth suncatcher ready to glow in the sunshine! It’s beauty everywhere you look.
