Graduation day is getting closer! We’re thrilled to present a few preschool and/or kindergarten graduation projects, since this is such an important achievement and truly worth celebrating. We’ll begin with this delightful and easy Cardboard Roll Graduation Cap Craft.
These graduation caps are an enjoyable way to honor your graduate while also serving as a charming decoration. After all, celebrations are meant to be enjoyed! Why not invite everyone to participate by creating some cheerful, handmade projects for the event? Although, I suppose that’s my solution for nearly everything.
Graduation Cap Cardboard Roll Craft
For our graduation caps, you’ll need toilet paper-sized cardboard rolls, black acrylic paint, black cardstock, yellow yarn, a 1” circle paper punch, a glue stick, and scissors.
Graduation Cap Decor Craft Supplies Needed
- Cardboard tube
- Black acrylic paint
- Black cardstock
- Yellow yarn
- 1” circle paper punch
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Cardboard Roll Graduation Cap Craft Step by Step Directions
Start with a clean, toilet paper-sized cardboard roll.
Cover the cardboard roll with black paint, then allow it to dry thoroughly.
As the paint dries, trim a square out of the black cardstock. Ours measured approximately 2 3/4″, which worked nicely.
Next, take some yellow yarn and form approximately 5 loops. Aim for loops that are around 4 inches long.
Tie a knot at one end of the yarn, about an inch from the end, leaving one side longer than the other. We tied ours two times.
From the longer side, trim off every yarn strand except one.
Use the punch to cut a 1” circle from the black cardstock.
Attach the long yarn strand to the middle of the black square with glue, then place the black circle over it.
Finally, after the paint has dried completely, slice the cardboard roll in half.
Secure the black square onto the top of the cardboard roll with glue.
Adorable, and a wonderful handmade decoration for all of your graduation festivities!
