Summer Paper Plate Wreath

This summer paper plate wreath makes a simple and enjoyable craft for children to create during summer break or on a wet afternoon. Simply print our free template, add color, and put it together!

Using our free printable template, a paper plate, and a few simple coloring materials, you can make this summer paper plate wreath.

Another option is to print the templates onto colored paper, then cut them out and attach them to a paper plate!

A little ribbon or twine makes it simple to hang.

Materials Required

• Coloring supplies – choose from markers, colored pencils, crayons, or even watercolors.

• Paint – optional for adding color to the paper plate

• Ribbon or twine – optional for displaying the wreath

Making a Summer Paper Plate Wreath

1. Print the free printable templates.

The free printable templates are available at the bottom of the post (inside the email form, which includes a template preview).

2. Trim out the templates.

3. Add color to the templates.

To cover the paper plate as shown, color six of the wreath templates. Of course, you may use more or fewer if you prefer!

4. Remove the center from a paper plate.

Begin by cutting out the middle of the paper plate. I find it helpful to gently fold the plate to create a starting mark, allowing the scissors to slip inside and remove this section.

5. Apply paint to the paper plate.

Although this step is optional, parts of the paper plate may remain visible depending on how the templates are positioned and glued.

6. Attach the templates to the paper plate.

Adhere each template around the paper plate. If you would rather not color six templates, spread them farther apart and use fewer pieces.

7. Attach a twine loop to the back for hanging.

Secure the twine to the back with tape so the wreath can be displayed.
