Reindeer Footprint Project
Making this footprint reindeer is incredibly simple! You’ll only need a few materials.
Children will enjoy embellishing the footprint reindeer, and the fingerprint lights are the most delightful part!

Materials for Making a Reindeer Footprint
- Brown acrylic paint plus assorted colors for the fingerprint lights. This set includes a good variety of shades.
- Tacky adhesive (to attach the pipe cleaners); hot glue may also be used with adult supervision
Making a Reindeer Footprint
1. First, cover one foot with brown paint.
Push the painted foot firmly onto the paper to create the print.
If some of the paint does not transfer when you press the footprint down, don’t be concerned. Simply fill in a few areas with a paintbrush.
Painting Suggestions
- If some paint is missing after pressing the footprint, don’t worry. Use a paintbrush to correct a few spots.
- Let children sit in a chair while their foot is being painted.
- Apply plenty of paint to the foot before making the print. The child can stand from the chair to press the footprint onto the paper.
- When pressing onto the paper, keep the foot level and ensure every toe touches the surface.
- After pressing, raise the foot carefully.
- Wash the feet right away for simpler cleanup. I prefer keeping a small bowl of dish soap and water close by, then cleaning the feet with a washcloth or baby wipe afterward.
2. Attach two large googly eyes.
3. Place a large red pom-pom on the nose.
4. Create the antlers using pipe cleaners.
Twist a shorter pipe cleaner piece around a longer one to form each antler.
Create two antlers and attach them to the top of the footprint.
5. Use a black marker to sketch the strand of lights.
On the black line, draw small rectangular shapes with the marker to show where the fingerprints will go.
6. Press a fingerprint into paint, then add it to the light strand.

Your reindeer is complete! Place it in a frame as a present, or transform it into a card.
