When it comes to creative projects, the recycling bin can be a real gold mine. Paper tubes, cardboard cartons, and plastic cups can all become excellent art materials, with countless ways to reuse them. This paper tube flower artwork is a simple method for making impressive art with the aid of a paper roll.
We’re big fans of paper roll projects. We’ve transformed plenty of rolls into bees, mushrooms, and windsocks.
This time, however, we aren’t creating a craft. Instead, the paper roll is being used for an art activity.
That means the paper roll serves as an instrument rather than the primary crafting material.
Using only some paint, colored paper, and naturally a paper roll, we can create charming flowers.
We made ours in rainbow shades, although you could choose a single color instead.
The best choice will depend on your child’s age and their patience for completing this art project.
When working with toddlers or preschoolers, I recommend creating flowers in a single shade. Apply paint to a paper plate and let your child dip the paper roll into it.
Since we wanted multicolored petals, we painted every petal on the paper roll separately before pressing it onto the paper.
Older children who can patiently work on each petal one at a time may enjoy this approach.

How to create paper roll flower artwork
Cut multiple slits around one end of a paper roll. Try to keep every petal roughly equal in size, then fold the petals outward.
We chose decorative-edge scissors, but ordinary scissors will work just as well.
Color each petal with a rainbow hue, then press the paper roll onto white paper to create flowers.
(For smaller children, apply paint in just one shade to a paper plate and let them dip the paper roll into it).
Punch circles from colored paper using a circle punch. After the paint has dried, place these circles in the centers of the flowers.
Draw the stems and leaves using a green marker or colored pencil.
Snip narrow pieces from green paper and attach them along the bottom of the white sheet with glue. These pieces will represent grass. We once again used decorative-edge scissors to trim the grass, which gives it a playful appearance.
