Affordable & Stylish Moody Spring Ideas
If you’ve been browsing Pinterest recently, you’ve likely seen an increase in deeper, more luxurious shades. This year, the moody style—often referred to as dark academia—is gaining popularity. In my opinion, it pairs perfectly with the current trend of incorporating vintage pieces and antiques into our homes.
After so many years of decorating with white and gray, this change feels especially refreshing.
Personally, I’m thrilled! Deep greens, rich browns, and nature-inspired shades are some of my favorites.
Here’s a little confession…this mood board was originally created for my own home! I’ve been searching for a new dining table and rug for my compact dining space. After saving countless gorgeous rugs in several shopping carts, I knew I needed to share them with you!

I’m currently waiting for the terracotta/sky area rug and dining table to arrive.
Several retailers carry the rug, but while I was tracking prices, Amazon and Wayfair offered the lowest ones, so I included links to both in the chart above.
You wouldn’t believe how challenging it was to locate a rectangular dining table measuring close to 50 inches!! Our kitchen dining nook is approximately 7×10. At the moment, I have a 42″ round table, but it feels too small…I need a larger surface to style, LOL!!
Last Fall, I brought the hazel green armchair into the living room. The shade is gorgeous, although the chair is quite firm and has a slightly shorter back.
That said, I actually prefer a firmer chair while using my laptop. Since the living room is fairly small, I appreciated how the chair’s lower back allowed your gaze to move through the space without interrupting the sightline.
Replacing the unattractive ceiling fan in the living room is also on my list. I’m considering the rattan bladeless one…now that’s innovation! These updated ceiling fans, which mostly resemble light fixtures, look far more stylish than large blades rotating overhead.
I’d also like to replace my velvet curtain panels with the faux linen ones...they definitely have a Pottery Barn-inspired look, but cost roughly one-quarter as much!
