Earth Day Paper Plate Wreath

Kids will have a great time creating this Earth Day paper plate wreath for this year’s Earth Day celebration. They will also enjoy decorating the various printables with color. This simple project is a wonderful way to begin talking about Earth Day and the steps we can take to care for our planet.

Our Earth Day paper plate wreath uses a free printable pattern, one paper plate, and a few simple coloring tools.

Another option is to print the patterns on colored paper, then cut them out and attach them to a paper plate. To make the activity even more environmentally friendly, use recycled paper for printing.

Hang it easily using a piece of ribbon or twine.

Materials Required

• Coloring supplies – markers, colored pencils, crayons, and even watercolors can all be used.

Making a Paper Earth Day Wreath

1. Print the complimentary printable patterns.

The free printable patterns are available at the end of the post (inside the form displaying a preview of the pattern).

2. Decorate the patterns with color.

To cover the paper plate as shown, color all eight wreath patterns. However, you can use more or fewer if you prefer!

After finishing the coloring, trim out every picture.

3. Remove the middle section from a paper plate.

First, cut away the paper plate’s center. Bending the plate slightly helps create a starting slit, allowing you to insert the scissors and remove the middle section.

4. Decorate the paper plate with paint.

This step is not required, although parts of the plate may remain visible based on where the patterns are attached.

5. Attach the patterns to the paper plate with glue.

Apply glue to all the patterns and place them on the paper plate. If you would rather not color all eight, leave more space between them and use fewer pieces.

6. Secure a twine loop on the back for hanging.

Use tape to fasten the twine to the back so the wreath can hang.
