How to Create the Easter Handprint & Footprint Printables
1. Print the empty templates.
Print the Easter templates located at the bottom of this post. They can be sent right to your email. With 6 different designs available, you can print as many as you want!
2. Prepare your work area.
To keep hand and footprint crafts as tidy as possible, we prefer preparing all supplies beforehand! Bring a large bowl or dish filled with warm, soapy water to your workspace, along with baby wipes, fresh rags, paint, and paintbrushes.
When making footprints, it is helpful to provide the child with a low chair or stool so they can sit while pressing their footprint onto the paper placed on the floor.
3. Press the handprints and footprints onto the pages.
Brush non-toxic tempera paint over your child’s hand. For the chicks, choose yellow paint, while gray paint is needed for the bunny.
Carefully lower your child’s hand onto the page, matching it as closely as possible to the printed features. After stamping the desired number of pages, assist your child with washing their hands in the sink or the bowl of soapy water.
Use the same method for the footprints – coat your child’s foot with orange paint for the carrot, and gray paint for the bunny and bunny ears. Put the page on the floor, then guide your child’s foot into the proper position.
Lift their foot away and help them clean it in the bowl of warm, soapy water.
Leave the pages undisturbed until they are fully dry! At this point, the carrot and handprint chick shown below are finished, while the other designs require a few additional touches.
4. Include the facial features.
After the painted handprints and footprints are entirely dry, add the facial features on top. We recommend sketching them with a pencil first, which makes correcting errors easy. Next, outline the eyes, whiskers, and bunny mouths with a black marker.
Paint the chicks’ beaks orange, then use pink paint for the bunnies’ noses and cheeks.
For the bunny with the larger footprint ears, paint the inner ear features pink with a brush over the gray footprints.
When everything has dried, your Easter handprint and footprint artwork is ready!
Be sure to add your child’s name and the date to the page!
