We’ve gotten so much wonderful feedback about the handprint spiders we shared for Halloween. Since our butterfly handprint card and fish handprint cards were also big hits, we decided to make a Halloween handprint card. This handprint witch is not only an easy and adorable craft for children, but it also works as a card. It makes a wonderful present to give someone along with a special Halloween treat!

Making a Handprint Witch
1. Begin by folding the green construction paper in half. Trace your hand with the wrist extending over the folded edge (this allows the fingers to separate when you open the card).
2. Trim out the handprint, then attach it to your white paper or cardstock with glue.
3. Next, give your witch some hair. Snip small strips from the orange construction paper. Be sure to glue the hair in place before putting on the hat!
4. Next, make the hat. Cut a witch’s hat from the black construction paper, shaping it with a pointed top. Cut a narrow strip from the gold foam paper and glue it across the hat.
5. Attach the googly eyes, or choose self-adhesive googly eyes. Afterward, draw a pointed nose and a smile. We prefer making a cheerful witch for Halloween!
6. It’s time to create the broom. Take a strip of brown paper and cut slits through roughly three-quarters of its length. Make enough cuts for the paper to wrap around the pipe cleaner. Apply glue, then wind it around the pipe cleaner. Use a strong tacky glue so it adheres well and remains attached.
7. Position the broom near the thumb of your handprint witch and glue it down so she appears to be holding it. Once again, use high-quality tacky glue to ensure the pipe cleaner stays firmly attached to the paper.
8. Finally, cut several stars from the gold glitter foam paper and stick them onto your card.
9. To finish, add a Halloween greeting inside, such as Happy Halloween or Trick or Treat.
This witch handprint craft is unbelievably adorable! Children will have fun decorating their witch, and who wouldn’t be delighted to receive this card with candy and Halloween goodies?
