When making this craft with young children, choose tape in place of staples. Toddlers and younger kids can also personalize white construction paper by drawing patterns on the strips before joining them together.

How to Make a Paper Heart Garland
1. Mark your lines.
Turn your construction paper horizontally, then measure twelve one-inch strips and lightly indicate them with a ruler. To keep the lines straight, we placed marks at the top and bottom of every sheet.
2. Cut the paper strips.
Cut along the marked lines with scissors. For cleaner, straighter edges, you may use a paper cutter instead.
3. Fold a strip in half.
After cutting all the strips from each construction-paper color you want to include, you can begin assembling the chain! Start by creasing one strip in half.
4. Form a heart.
Next, curve both ends of the folded strip inward toward the center, then staple them together to create a heart.
For a staple-free option, secure the heart with glue or tape.
5. Add another strip.
Take the next strip in your chosen pattern, fold it in half, and then unfold it.
Pass one end through the first heart, curve both ends toward the center, and fasten them together with a staple.
Continue the process!
Build the chain by inserting one end of each fresh strip into the last heart, then curve the ends inward and staple them!
After creating a lengthy chain, hang it up and showcase your lovely handmade decoration! Use it as a festive garland, or turn it into a countdown for an important event. Tear off one heart each day as you count down!
