DIY Popsicle Stick Coaster Craft
To create these charming popsicle stick coasters, gather a few colored craft sticks and a hot glue gun, used with adult supervision.
Children will enjoy making these drink coasters from popsicle sticks as presents for family and friends on Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or birthdays.

- Personalize the coasters by writing special messages across the sticks or adding a family surname.
Materials Required
- Wooden popsicle sticks – we chose these colored craft sticks. Another option is to purchase plain popsicle sticks and decorate them with acrylic paint.
- Hot glue gun – operate it with help from an adult. You may also choose tacky glue or very strong white glue. Be certain to give the adhesive sufficient time to dry before picking up the coaster.

Making Popsicle Stick Coasters
Each coaster requires 16 sticks, or 13 when skipping the second layer: 8 aquamarine sticks, or 5 without the extra layer, 3 pink sticks, 3 peach sticks, and 2 purple sticks.
1. Form a square.
Arrange 4 popsicle sticks into a square.
Spread hot glue across the ends of the 2 sticks that cross over, working on one side at a time to prevent the glue from setting too quickly. Tacky glue works as well, but let the sticks dry long enough before shifting the coaster.
2. Place another stick in the square’s center.
For added stability, attach one more stick vertically through the center of the square.
Optional: If you want a taller coaster, place another row of aquamarine vertical sticks over the 3 that were just attached.
3. Attach sticks across the top.
Build the coaster’s surface by alternating 8 differently colored sticks and gluing them horizontally across the base.
Leave a narrow space between the sticks so all 8 can be arranged across the coaster’s top.
4. Let the coaster set.
When using tacky glue or extra-strength white glue, wait until the coaster is fully dry before relocating it.
