These tiny Easter chick cards are wonderful for preschoolers or toddlers to lend a hand with, although I think children of any age would enjoy creating them. I originally made them for an Easter feature in the Guardian last year, but I never got around to sharing them on Red Ted Art. They also work brilliantly as simple Easter Bookmark DIYs. So, here they are! They’re easy, charming, and incredibly quick to create:
Materials required for creating your Finger Print Chicks:
- Paper (scraps of paper work wonderfully for this as well)
- Yellow finger paint (have you given this homemade finger paint recipe a try?)
- Red and black pens for adding details
- Scissors or a ruler for making tears
- For creating cards: cardstock
- For creating bookmarks: cardstock scraps + perhaps a ribbon or a few pom poms
Steps for making your Finger Print Chicks
- Create a few thumbprints or fingerprints.
- Allow them to dry completely.
- Draw tiny features to transform them into little chicks!
- Trim them out or use a ruler to make a “rough but straight tear,” then attach them to your cardstock!
- For Bookmarks – punch a hole and thread through a ribbon, or add a ribbon with a pom pom or tassel!
Your easy Easter cards are ready to go!
