As you might have seen, we have really enjoyed creating Mother’s Day Cards for Kids, along with 3D Cards for Kids, ever since launching the Red Ted Art YouTube channel. They are incredibly enjoyable to make and quite habit-forming. With Mother’s Day nearly here (in the UK!), we felt it was the perfect moment to add a 3D Card DIY designed especially for Mother’s Day – like this 3D Flower Card DIY!
My children absolutely adore this 3D Flower Pop Up Card and are eager to try making one. It is simpler to create than you might imagine and is quite similar to the Pop Up Snowman Card we made earlier that year. Flower Crafts are wonderfully suited to Spring, Birthdays and Mother’s Day!

POP UP Daffodil Cards
Pop Up Flower Card – Supplies
- A6 card stock (or fold an A5 sheet in half)
- Green paper – although lightweight card is slightly better for strength and preventing wrinkles
- A selection of coloured paper scraps
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Glue stick
DIY 3D Flower Card – Instructions:
As usual, we have added a helpful 3D Flower Pop Up Cards video set to autoplay for you to view whenever convenient, and we have also provided written directions below!
Flower Pop Up Card – Step-by-step instructions
- First, trim your green A5 paper slightly so that it fits inside your card stock, leaving a neat border around the edge.
- Fold the sheet in half.
- Make several slits: two long ones about halfway up, two shorter ones around 1/3 of the way, followed by two long, two short and two long cuts.
- Lift these cuts and form creases; they will serve as the stems for your pop up flowers.
- Unfold your green paper, then turn the stems “inside out”.
- Carefully attach the green sheet, including the pop up flower stems, to your card stock.
- Next, sketch simple black flowers in different sizes on your coloured paper. You may also draw bees and ladybirds.
- Cut out all the shapes.
- Gently attach your paper flowers to the stems. Add paper leaves to the pop up flowers if desired.
- For the flowers placed at the back of the card, you can attach a small card behind them so they pop out slightly as well.
- To complete your 3D Flower Card for kids, place a few flowers on the outside of the flower card and envelope too!!
