Searching for a Memorial Day kids craft that honors the incredible Veterans who served our country? This Tape Resist American Flag Craft is, of course, also perfect for 4th of July projects or celebrating any other USA holiday.
Our American flag craft is not only enjoyable for children of all ages, but it also gives them a wonderful opportunity to display their patriotic spirit. Younger children may need an adult’s assistance arranging the tape in rows, but after that, they can simply enjoy painting. Fingerprint stars are included, too!
American Flag Tape Resist Craft
For this USA flag project, gather white and blue cardstock, red and white acrylic paint, scissors, and glue. You’ll also need 1” masking tape, although washi tape works well too.
Tape Resist USA Flag Craft Supplies Needed
- Cardstock – white, blue
- Acrylic paint – red, white
- 1” masking tape or washi tape
- Scissors
- Glue
Fingerprint Flag Craft Step by Step Directions
Place a piece of white cardstock horizontally to get started.
Take your 1” tape and tear strips slightly longer than the cardstock. Arrange them in rows across the paper, leaving approximately an inch between each strip. Lightly secure the tape.
Next, dip a paintbrush into the red paint and brush the color between the taped rows.
Keep painting until the entire sheet is covered in red.
Once the painting is finished, slowly lift and remove each piece of tape.
After that, trim a rectangle out of the blue cardstock.
Attach the blue rectangle with glue to the upper left corner
Next, place your finger into the white paint and stamp dots over the blue rectangle to create stars.
Now simply allow the paint to dry all the way before proudly displaying your USA flag.
