What do you usually do with plastic Easter eggs after the holiday has passed? Do you recycle them, or save them for the following year? Here’s a creative way to turn reused Easter eggs into flowers for decorating your home. These plastic Easter egg blooms are so charming that you’ll want to display them beyond Easter.
If you don’t have spare plastic Easter eggs, you’ll probably want to visit a dollar store to pick some up, since these flowers are truly wonderful. This Easter craft project is enjoyable for both children and adults. (For additional Easter projects for kids, browse our Easter craft collection)
Display the flowers as a festive table centerpiece or use them to add Easter flair to your décor. You can even stuff them with little candies or jelly beans.
I had come across plenty of plastic Easter egg flowers online and decided to make some myself. However, I wanted to add a unique touch to the versions created with only eggs and pipe cleaners. Therefore, we attached petals to every flower.
Although we coordinated the petals with each egg, you’re free to choose any shade for them. Make every petal the same color, or combine several hues. The choice depends entirely on you and the colored paper available to you.
Leaves can also be attached to the pipe cleaners. We skipped that step because we arranged the flowers into a bouquet and set them inside a small flowerpot.

Making flowers from plastic Easter eggs
NOTE: Choose Easter eggs with holes on the bottom. Some eggs do not include them.
Separate an egg, then feed a pipe cleaner through one of the two openings on its bottom.
Bring the pipe cleaner back out through the other hole at the base of the egg.
Snap the egg closed again.
Tug on both pipe cleaner ends so they are the same length.
Wind the two ends of the pipe cleaner around each other to form the stem.
Print the petal pattern (available at the end of the article) onto colored paper. To use multiple shades, cut out a petal and use it to trace shapes onto paper in various colors.
Four petals are required for each flower.
Attach the petals with glue around the base of each flower, beside the stem.
We used a wooden flowerpot, filled it with several small balls (plastic Easter eggs work as well), positioned the flower bouquet in the center, and concealed the balls with tissue paper.
