The spooky season has officially arrived, which means it’s time to bring out the orange and black supplies and start crafting for Halloween! 🎃
Maybe you can relate, but as soon as September begins, my thoughts immediately turn to pumpkins, sweets, and everything delightfully creepy.
This year, perler beads have become the stars of my Halloween craft projects. My niece and I have been creating tiny bats, ghosts, and pumpkins continuously, although we decided to try something beyond the usual.
Rather than keeping to flat patterns, we chose to build in 3D! The outcome is a pair of charming jack o’ lantern perler projects that are just as enjoyable to create as they are to show off.
The first project is a jack o’ lantern votive holder. Place a flameless tealight inside, and you’ll instantly have a light that is both warm and wonderfully spooky.
Next comes the mini perler bead box, an ideal spot for keeping a few pieces of candy corn, a small toy, or simply bringing a bit of fun to your Halloween decorations.
My favorite part is that children can easily make these crafts, yet the finished results still look remarkably impressive. They’re seasonal, useful, and simply enjoyable – everything a Halloween craft ought to be.

Box with Lid
Create ONE side featuring the face (135 orange, 34 black beads) and THREE plain orange sides (175 beads apiece). Altogether, the box sides require 660 orange and 34 black beads.
For the top and bottom, you’ll need 324 orange and 56 green beads.
Putting the box together is quite simple! Insert the two stem pieces into one another, then place them in the opening on the box top.
Votive Holder
These votive holders are incredibly enjoyable, and they shine beautifully! For one holder, you’ll need 514 orange, 8 green, 87 cheddar, and 25 black beads.
Assembly is simplest when you lay the face flat on your work area. Fit the sides and bottom into the face, then attach the back to the sides and bottom. Once complete, it’s ready for an LED candle.
