Who else is eager to freshen up their home a little?? Whenever February arrives, I suddenly feel inspired to place plants and flowers all around the house!
Perhaps it’s because, by February, it seems as though Winter has lasted forever here in New Hampshire…I don’t know for sure, but I have a feeling I’m not the only one who feels this way.
Recently, I came across a large selection of planters online at Walmart, all of which had been discounted, and that gave me the idea for this post. I began browsing and putting together a collection of inexpensive vases and planters that I felt were attractive and perfectly suited to the trends of 2023.
Nearly everything featured here is under $30, while most items cost less than $20...the priciest piece is the female bust vase, priced at $34.99.
Cottage Style Spring: My Favorite Affordable Finds
Cottage style and Spring seem made for one another, don’t they?? Picture pink blooms arranged in a charming white pitcher, or tall pussy willow stems displayed in a natural rattan vase. Add plenty of planters filled with flowering plants…that’s the image that comes to mind when I think about a cottage-style atmosphere!
For this look, I came across an abundance of reasonably priced vases and planters. I also found some beautiful flower and greenery choices to help brighten your home.
I’ve owned the white ceramic Better Homes & Gardens pitcher for several years, and I bring it out every Spring for displaying flowers… Sometimes I use faux blooms, such as the tulips on the left (yes, they’re artificial!) or Forsythia branches that I trim and bring inside to force into bloom.
Modern Mood: Vases & Planters with a Contemporary Style
If you’ve been following Cottage on Bunker Hill for a few years, you know that my home was mainly decorated in a cottage style. However, over the past year, I’ve noticed my personal decorating preferences gradually shifting toward a more modern aesthetic.
I believe the combination of mixed metals and the texture found on some contemporary pieces is what attracts me to them.
I brought home a few planters from Walmart last week. I’m still amazed that this Better Homes & Gardens planter costs only $5.48! It can hold a small plant, though I think it would also be lovely filled with faux flower stems or wispy greenery.
I filled it with several artificial white peonies so you could see how it appears with flowers rather than a plant. So lovely!
While the willow branches look wonderfully realistic, I recently incorporated them into a small DIY project. I used them to create a collection of Moss Covered Branches.
I placed the remaining willow branches in a tall vase (a flea-market makeover) on the console table behind my sectional. They look like pretty convincing replicas!
Black & White Stylish Vases & Planters
Black and white vases and planters are timeless pieces that blend beautifully with many different home color palettes. I discovered an excellent selection of incredibly budget-friendly choices for you.
At $34.99, the female bust vase is the most expensive item…but even then, it costs far less than many similar pieces I have spotted elsewhere. Most of the items shown here are priced below $15 today.
I ended up buying several of these items for my own home! Honestly, I simply couldn’t pass them up…they were such wonderful deals!!!
One of my inexpensive vase selections is also a dupe for a well-loved Pottery Barn design!!! The vase on the left costs $50 at Pottery Barn, while the one on the right is just $12.98 at Walmart!!
The Walmart bubble planter is available in black as well. The black looks gorgeous against the green hoya plant.
At the moment, I have the BHG Chad planter holding my favorite plant, a silver pothos, but it would also be lovely filled with dried hydrangeas or attractive shells displayed on your coffee table.
I’ve owned the white tulips for several years too, and they have a lifelike touch thanks to their latex construction. They truly appear genuine; I have both light pink and vivid pink varieties, and I adore them!
As a quick note, I recommend keeping them away from direct sunlight since I feel mine became slightly yellow after sitting in front of my large, bright living room window.
