How to make the Amigurumi Crayon
Using A, create a magic loop.
Rnd 1: Crochet 4 sc in the loop; connect with a sl st in the first sc—4 sc.
Rnd 2: Working in BLO, ch 1, sc in the next 4 sc, sc in the sl st used to connect the previous rnd, do not join—5 sc.
Rnd 3: Crochet 2 sc in the next st, sc in every st around—6 sc.
Rnds 4–9: Repeat Rnd 3—12 sc in Rnd 9.
Rnd 10: Crochet 2 sc in every st around—24 sc.
Rnd 11: Working in BLO, sc in every st around; connect with a sl st in the first sc.
Switch to B.
Rnd 12: Ch 1, sl st in every st around; join with sl st in first sl st—24 sl sts.
Rnd 13: Ch 1, crocheting in BLO, sc in every st around; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 14: Ch 1, sc around; join with sl st in first sc.
Switch to C.
Rnds 15 and 16: Repeat Rnds 12 and 13.
Switch to B.
Rnds 17 and 18: Repeat Rnds 12 and 13.
Switch to C.

Fill the Crayon, continuing to add stuffing as you work.
Switch to C.
Rnds 34–42: Repeat Rnds 15–23, joining at the completion of Rnd 42.
Switch to A.
Rnds 43 and 44: Repeat Rnds 12 and 13.
Rnd 45: Ch 1, working in BLO, [sc in next st, sc2tog, sc in next st] around; join with sl st in first sc—18 sc.
Rnd 46: Ch 1, [inv-dec, sc in next st] around; join with sl st in first st—12 sc.
Rnd 47: Ch 1, inv-dec around; join with sl st in first st—6 sc.
Fasten off and leave a long tail for stitching. Sew the remaining 6 sts closed.
Finishing
For every Crayon, snip a length of black craft wire measuring about 4 to 5 times the piece’s width. Carefully push the wire through the center of the piece at arm height, with equal lengths extending from both sides to form the arms.
With black embroidery thread, stitch V-shaped smiles beneath the eyes.
Write or print an uplifting message on card stock, then trim it to the preferred size. Attach the sign to the hands with hot glue or double-sided tape.
Tuck in the ends.
