Set your turkey sailing with this charming and incredibly easy Cardboard Roll Turkey Windsock Craft! Kids will love assembling this sweet Thanksgiving decoration and watching its streamers sway in the autumn breeze.
For this Thanksgiving streamer project, we chose an ordinary brown cardboard roll, so painting wasn’t necessary. If your cardboard rolls are a different color, however, you’ll need to paint them first.
We’ve used cardstock for windsocks before, but this method doesn’t require staples either. Simply glue the streamers inside the cardboard roll, attach a beak, wattle, and a pair of eyes, then hang it up!
Turkey Windsock Cardboard Roll Craft
To create this turkey, gather paper streamers in orange, red, and yellow, a brown toilet paper-sized cardboard roll, cardstock in red and yellow, small googly eyes, scissors, and a glue stick.
To suspend your streamer, you will also require a single hole punch and bakers twine.
Cardboard Roll Turkey Craft Supplies Needed

- Construction paper – red, yellow

Turkey Windsock Craft Step by Step Directions
Start by finding a brown cardboard roll.
Gather paper streamers in red, orange, and yellow as well.
Trim one streamer to your preferred length.
Spread glue across the end of the streamer, then secure it inside the lower part of the roll. We used this technique, though you could instead draw a line of liquid glue along the inside of the roll or use double-sided tape. Choose whichever method works best for you.
Keep attaching streamers until the roll is covered. Three pieces should be enough to fill it, although adding extra streamers will create a fuller appearance.
Next, cut a narrow piece of construction paper or leftover streamer material to create a little feather band across the top of the cardboard roll.
After that, cut a yellow paper beak and a red paper wattle.
Attach the googly eyes, then glue the beak and wattle into position.
Complete the turkey streamer by making two holes along its sides.
Snip a length of bakers twine and thread the ends through the holes, tying them securely. Now your turkey streamer is ready to display! We hope you enjoy making this delightful turkey craft!
