You can prepare this activity in just a few minutes with very little setup.
Just download and print the sheet, then begin rearranging the Earth Day words!
Here are a few suggestions you can share with children to make unscrambling the words easier:
- Separate the vowels from the consonants and examine them individually.
- Recall every Earth Day-related word you know and jot them down. Do any contain similar letters? Record whatever comes to mind, then make comparisons.
- Rearranging the letters yourself can frequently make the solution clearer. Write them in another order and check whether a familiar word appears.
- For younger children, place all the possible answer words on the page for them to reference.
A complete answer sheet is provided too, so you can quickly check the children’s solutions. Another option is to cut out the answer words and let kids attach them to the worksheet with glue.
Turn it into a game:
- Offer a prize to whoever completes every word first.
- Give them a time limit and count how many answers they can find!
