We always seem to have at least one last-minute holiday project, and we simply had to share these Fall Leaf Halloween Crafts! They’re incredibly adorable and incredibly simple, making them a delightful Halloween activity for children—and a wonderful reason to spend time outdoors.
You may have noticed that we’ve been especially enthusiastic about leaf crafts lately. Honestly, I have tiny leaf pieces scattered throughout my home and tucked inside nearly every pocket. Still, the enjoyment makes it completely worthwhile!
Our Fall Leaf Halloween Bat Craft and Fall Leaf Ghost Craft are the simplest projects in the collection and, naturally, ideal for the spooky season. They also pair together so perfectly that it’s hard to create just one. Of course, you could. But why stop there?
Fall Leaf Halloween Ghost and Bat Crafts
To create our fall leaf bats and ghosts, you’ll need fall leaves, black and white acrylic paint, along with black, white, and silver markers and wooden clothespins.
Halloween Fall Leaf Craft Supplies Needed
- Autumn leaves
- Acrylic paint – black, white
- Markers/paint pens – black, white, silver
- Wooden clothespins
Halloween Leaf Crafts Step by Step Directions
First, go outdoors and collect a generous handful of fall leaves. Fresh leaves are ideal since you don’t want them to be brittle. For the bats, choose small to medium leaves so their wings won’t cover the clothespins.
Paint some of the leaves black to create the bats, using two leaves per bat. Give the clothespins a coat of black paint as well. Then, paint additional leaves white for the ghosts.
Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.
Once the leaves and clothespins are fully dry, start drawing the faces. Begin with the bat. With a silver marker—we used a metallic one—draw two dots for the eyes, then place a black dot in the middle. To finish the bat’s expression, use a white paint pen to draw a W-shaped set of fangs.
Choose two leaves that are approximately the same size and line them up by their stems. At this point, you can secure the backs together with tape to make the next step simpler.
Pin the leaves inside the clothespin to finish the bat.
For the fall leaf ghost craft, use a black marker to add two round eyes and a circular mouth.
Draw faces on each of the ghosts. In my opinion, it’s an adorable way to bring a touch of autumn into Halloween fun. And yes, you really ought to take my word for it.
