We absolutely adore this simple Patriotic Paper Streamer Craft. Created with an easy cardstock loop and several strips of crepe paper, it makes a wonderful Memorial Day or 4th of July project and looks beautiful fluttering in the wind.
Since these are crafted from cardstock, however, I wouldn’t keep them outdoors. They make lovely decorations nonetheless. These patriotic streamers also give children a delightful way to celebrate America and honor the incredible Veterans who have fought and continue fighting for us.
Memorial Day Streamers Craft
For our patriotic streamers, gather cardstock in patriotic shades, matching crepe paper streamers, plus a white paint pen, a stapler, scissors, and a glue stick.
You’ll also need a hole punch and baker’s twine for hanging the streamers.
Patriotic Streamer Craft Supplies Needed
- Cardstock – red, blue
- Crepe paper streamers – red, blue
- White paint pen
- Stapler
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Hole punch
- Baker’s twine or ribbon
July 4th Streamer Craft Step by Step Directions
First, select either red or blue patriotic cardstock.
Slice the cardstock into two equal pieces.
Next, decorate the cardstock with the white paint pen. Stars make an especially fitting design.
Turn the cardstock over so the undecorated side faces upward. Trim your streamers. We discovered that 5 streamers fit across the cardstock perfectly. Attach the streamers along the bottom edge with glue.
After gluing all the streamers down, curve the cardstock into a loop.
Fasten it with staples. Take care to avoid stapling the streamers.
To finish hanging your streamers, make two holes near the top of the cardstock, one on each side.
Snip a lengthy piece of baker’s twine and form a loop at the center. Then thread and tie both ends through the streamer’s holes. Do your best to keep it balanced.
Your streamers are ready to display!
They’re a bit like potato chips—you won’t want to make only one. They’re wonderfully simple and so enjoyable to see swaying softly in the breeze!
