Are you prepared for some Easter creativity? This Paint Scrape Easter Egg Craft is a wonderful way to experiment and have fun with paint in an unusual way. Like most of the best painting projects, it can become somewhat messy. Therefore, I highly recommend keeping that in mind.
For scraping the paint onto our Easter eggs, we used part of a shipping box left over from our previous cardboard project, Cardboard Yarn Wrapped Flowers. After every scrape, we wiped the paint from the cardboard. You can also use several pieces of the box to reduce the mess. To create the egg shape, we used the Free Printable Easter Egg Template from our Tape Resist Easter Egg Craft.
Easter Egg Paint Scrape Craft
Before painting our Easter eggs, you’ll need to get our egg template.
You will also need rectangle pieces of cardboard, white cardstock, acrylic paint in a variety of colors, markers, and scissors.

Easter Eggs Scrape Painting Step by Step Directions
First, collect your cardboard piece. It should be comfortable to hold, with the edge resting flat when the cardboard is upright. Be sure to cover your table for protection, and keep paper towels nearby to clean the paint off the cardboard.
Next, place drops of paint along one side of a white cardstock sheet. Choose any colors and arrangement you prefer.
Take the cardboard and drag it across the cardstock, scraping the paint from one end to the other.
After every stroke, clean the paint from the cardboard.
Create additional eggs using new color combinations and designs. It’s wonderfully addictive!
Allow every layer of paint to dry fully.
Once the paint has dried completely, print out the egg template. Place it over the painted cardstock and trace around it.
Trim out the egg shape.
The eggs already look lovely on their own. Still, we decided to embellish them further by adding details with markers.
