Handprint projects are always incredibly charming and welcoming, even when those handprints become the wings of entirely black bats. This Paper Bag Handprint Bat Craft combines all that sweetness with plenty of fun and simplicity. It makes an excellent easy, last-minute Halloween decoration!
We’re always fond of handprint projects. Those tiny handprints stay small for such a brief period. I really wish I had created more of them when my oldest was this age. It’s a wonderful way to mark not just the season and holiday, but this particular age and stage, too. Everything about it is incredibly precious, and I do my best to appreciate it whenever possible. This time, we’re making handprint bats.
Paper Bag Handprint Bat Halloween Project
To make our adorable handprint bats, gather brown paper lunch bags, black acrylic paint, black and white cardstock, small googly eyes, scissors, and a glue stick.
Supplies for the Handprint Bat Project
- Paper lunch bags
- Black acrylic paint
- White and black cardstock
- Small googly eyes
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Step-by-Step Paper Bag Bat Project Instructions
Start by covering a brown paper lunch bag with black paint.
Allow the paint to dry all the way.
As the paint dries, trace around hands onto black cardstock. Each bat requires two handprints.
Carefully cut out the handprints.
Next, cut two black cardstock triangles to make the ears. Cut two triangles from white paper for the fangs, too.
Once the paint has dried fully, attach the handprints to the sides of the bag near the flap.
After that, glue the white triangles beneath the flap to create the bat’s fangs.
Attach the black triangular ears to the upper part of the bag.
To finish this wonderfully cute handprint bat project, add two small googly eyes. A lovable bat? Anything can happen!
