You can create this project with paint as well. Cover a hand in orange paint, press it onto white paper, and cut out the print. After that, complete the same steps.
Materials Required
- Colored cardstock– orange was used for the pumpkin. You’ll also require green and brown paper for the stem, leaf, and vines.
- Pink paint
- Tiny googly eyes
- Glue– Standard washable white glue or a glue stick works wonderfully for this activity.

Making a Pumpkin Handprint
1. Begin by folding a sheet of orange cardstock.
Trace around the hand with the thumb positioned on the folded edge. Next, cut out the shape.
It will open into a card shape:
2. Make a stem using brown cardstock.
Attach the stem with glue to the back of the pumpkin handprint.
3. Snip two lengthy strips from green cardstock.
Coil each paper strip around a pencil to create a curly effect.
Next, glue the two pieces inside the card.
4. Trim a leaf shape from green cardstock.
Crease the leaf down the center so the sides lift upward.
Glue the leaf onto the top portion of the handprint.
5. Attach 2 googly eyes.
6. Use a black marker to draw a smile.
Next, create 2 cheek dots with pink paint. Dip the end of a pencil or paintbrush into the paint, then lightly stamp it onto the handprint.
7. Add a note inside your card.
