Have you ever wished to make cheerful Halloween cookies but found royal icing too difficult? Give this recipe a try! In my view, fondant is actually simpler to use than royal icing. Follow these straightforward instructions, and you’ll soon have your own spooky cookies!

Start by baking cookies with your preferred cookie recipe, then use the instructions below to decorate them! An edible marker works wonderfully since children of all ages can join in on the decorating. Kids can also help roll the fondant flat!

Supplies Needed
Gather the following items to decorate your cookies:

How to Decorate Halloween Cookies
1. Use ghost and pumpkin cookie cutters to bake the cookies.

2. Color the white fondant orange.
Mix in a little food coloring and knead the fondant until the color is distributed evenly. You may also purchase orange fondant instead.

3. Work the fondant until it becomes soft.
With a rolling pin, flatten the fondant into a thin sheet.

Use the cookie cutters to press out shapes that match your cookies.

4. Brush a small amount of water over the cookie before placing the fondant shape on it.
The water allows the fondant to adhere to the cookie.

5. Set the fondant shape on top of the cookie.
Neaten the edges with a fondant smoother or your fingers. If necessary, you can also gently soften a few edges with a small amount of water.

6. Add faces to the ghosts and jack-o-lanterns with an edible marker!

Children of every age can make these cookies with ease, including toddlers! They’ll also have fun creating their own faces on the cookies.
