- Construction paper
- Glue or a glue stick
- Scissors
- Optional: Stapler

Step-by-Step Directions for Making This Rainbow Paper Chain with a Pot of Gold
Step 1: Use a coin or another small round object to trace 5–6 gold coins onto yellow paper. Then, cut out each circle.
Step 2: Draw a cauldron on black paper, roughly the size of your palm, and cut it out. Next, cut a long rectangle from the same black paper.
Step 3: From red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, and purple paper, cut one long strip of each colour.
Step 4: Attach the coins to the back of the cauldron with glue. Begin by overlapping the top coin, then add the remaining coins.
Step 5: Position the black strip behind the coins and glue it into a loop. Leave it aside to dry.
Step 6: To begin the rainbow paper chain, glue the red strip into a loop. Thread the orange strip through the red loop and glue it together. Continue with yellow, green, light blue, and blue, attaching each strip to the one before it.
Step 7: Thread the purple strip through both the blue link and the cauldron’s black loop, then glue it into a loop.
Helpful Tips and Ideas for Your Rainbow Paper Chain
- A stapler can be used to secure the paper loops.
- Would you like a longer rainbow paper chain? Create additional loops and continue the rainbow sequence.
- For a glittery finish, use a paintbrush to apply gold glitter glue to the paper coins.
- Write the letters ROYGBIV (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) with a marker or crayon as a playful way to remember the rainbow colours.
- Display your rainbow paper chain and pot of gold on a chalkboard, whiteboard, window, bookcase, or bulletin board.
