Coffee Container Leprechaun Trap

Snare those leprechauns this St. Patrick’s Day with this entertaining Coffee Container Leprechaun Trap! Since many of the materials are available at the dollar store, this makes a delightful St. Patrick’s Day project for hardly any cost. Its glittering gold appearance is certain to tempt leprechauns inside!

It’s also wonderful to repurpose things you already have at home instead of tossing them out. I go through plenty of coffee myself. Load the container with all sorts of treasures leprechauns adore, and then see if they fall into the trap!

Coffee Container Leprechaun Trap Craft

Begin this leprechaun trap by finding an empty, tidy coffee container. Gather the remaining materials: green construction paper, green paper shred, yellow craft sticks, mini craft sticks, gold coins, beads, foam shapes, shamrocks, glue, and scissors.

St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Trap Craft Supplies Needed

  • Coffee container
  • Green construction paper
  • Green paper shred
  • Gold coins
  • Shamrock beads
  • Glittery foam shapes
  • Glittery shamrocks
  • Yellow popsicle sticks
  • Mini popsicle sticks
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Leprechaun Trap Craft Step by Step Directions

Wrap the coffee container in construction paper.

Secure the paper with glue or tape.

Pour paper shred into the container until it is approximately ¾ full.

Toss several foam shapes and gold coins inside the container.

Attach a shamrock and some gold coins to the container lid with glue or tape. Fasten one side of the lid to the container using sturdy tape.

Pry the container lid open with a popsicle stick. Rest the stick on a few objects (I used the foam gold coins) so the lid remains raised.

Make the ladder with two yellow popsicle sticks. Attach mini popsicle sticks across the back with glue, then leave it aside to dry.

After the ladder has dried, lean it against the container.

Arrange additional gleaming gold or green items around the container, then leave it out and see if you can catch a Leprechaun!
