If you’re ready for another charming Thanksgiving project, take a look at this adorable Thanksgiving Turkey Photo Craft. Along with being an incredibly cute holiday activity, it lets you place a treasured autumn photo inside the turkey’s wings, turning it into a delightful keepsake.
We’ve provided a Free Printable Turkey Template with every piece required for this project. In short, cut out all the shapes and assemble them with glue. Insert a favorite autumn photo, and this turkey project is finished and ready for turkey day. Just don’t explain to the turkey what turkey day really means.
This turkey project is also big enough to hold a complete 4×6 photo. I’m not sure about you, but I’d rather leave my pictures uncut. I’ve trimmed them before and may do so again, yet keeping them whole is preferable whenever possible. The photos can also be taken out whenever you’d like.
Thanksgiving Photo Turkey Craft
To make our turkey project, begin by printing the turkey template.
Gather the remaining supplies: cardstock in brown, red, yellow, and orange, medium-sized googly eyes, fall photos, scissors, and a glue stick.
Turkey Photo Craft Supplies Needed
- Turkey Template
- 4×6 photos
- Cardstock – brown, red, yellows, oranges, purple
- Medium-sized googly eyes
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Turkey Craft Step by Step Directions
Start by printing the turkey template.
Use brown cardstock to trace and cut out the circles.
Trace and cut a minimum of 5 feather shapes from red, yellow, and orange cardstock. We added purple as well.
Next, trace and cut two feather shapes from brown cardstock.
For the remaining parts, use orange for the two feet and leg strips. The beak should be yellow, while the wattle should be red.
After cutting out every piece, attach the smaller head circle over the larger body circle with glue.
Arrange the feathers around the head.
Secure each facial piece in its proper position.
Next, crease the leg strips using an alternating accordion fold.
Attach the strips beneath the turkey, then glue the feet into position as well.
To finish, place a photo in the middle of the turkey’s body. Spread glue along the wings’ outside edges only, then attach them. The wings should hold the photo without being glued directly onto it. What a sweet way to preserve a Thanksgiving memory!
