Ingredients Needed to Make Yogurt Bites
- Plain Greek Yogurt
- Fruit Puree
- Honey (optional: to prepare these for babies younger than 1, leave out the honey and substitute vanilla Greek yogurt, or just omit the honey altogether. If you prefer a sweeter result, another sweetener may also be used.)
We chose plain Greek yogurt since it lets you control the quantity of sweetener, though flavored Greek yogurt is also worth trying. Vanilla pairs nicely with every fruit puree.
We recommend choosing Greek yogurt instead of regular yogurt because its texture is more suitable. Since Greek yogurt is considerably thicker, the bites hold their form more effectively and do not become overly watery.
Honey is included in our recipe. Babies younger than one year should not be given honey. Avoid honey in every form, including when it has been incorporated into recipes. To prepare these for babies younger than 1, omit the honey and use vanilla Greek yogurt instead, or simply leave the honey out. You may also choose a different sweetener.

Tips for Making Frozen Yogurt Bites
- Using 1/4 cup of fruit puree with the Greek yogurt creates the ideal texture for these bites. Adding extra puree may make the mixture too thin when you pipe the small dollops onto the sheet.
- Acidic fruits may react with Greek yogurt and cause it to liquefy. Kiwi, for instance, might not firm up as well as the fruits recommended here.
- Diced fruit generally reduces by roughly 50% when pureed. For instance, 1 Cup of chopped peaches yields approximately ½ cup of peach puree.
- Straining is not required, though it is advised for seeded berries such as strawberries and blackberries.
- For fruits such as peaches, you may keep the skin intact, although we removed the mango peel.
Fruit Combination Options
Create a rainbow assortment of frozen yogurt bites, or prepare only the flavors you enjoy most! Our top choices were strawberry, mango, and blackberry.
These are the precise fruit puree quantities for each flavor:
Red: ¼ cup strained, pureed strawberries (approximately 1 cup of strawberries)
Orange: ¼ cup pureed peaches (roughly 1-2 peaches)
Yellow: ¼ cup pureed mango (1 large mango)
Green: ¼ cup pureed green pear, green grapes and spinach (½ green pear, a handful of grapes and several spinach pieces). The spinach may be omitted, but it gives the bites a more vivid green color.
Blue: ¼ cup pureed blueberries (approximately 3/4 cup of blueberries)
Purple: ¼ cup strained, pureed blackberries (1 cup of blackberries – use extra if you plan to strain them).

-
Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and place it aside.
-
Using a food processor or powerful blender, blend the fruit mixture you prefer. Refer to the fruit puree combinations in the notes below. This recipe yields 1 color of bites. Repeat the process for every color or flavor you wish to prepare.
-
To eliminate the seeds, pass the puree through a fine mesh strainer.
-
In a small bowl, combine the pureed fruit, yogurt, and honey. Whisk everything together.
-
Transfer the mixture to a quart-sized resealable plastic bag. With scissors, snip off a very small portion of one bottom corner.
-
Pipe small, bite-sized yogurt portions onto the baking sheet, leaving space between them. Make them as large or as small as you prefer. One color should cover an entire baking sheet.
-
Freeze the bites for a minimum of 1 hour, or until firm. Keep them in an airtight, freezer-safe container or bag for 1-2 months. Remove only the amount you plan to eat, since they will soften once taken out of the freezer.

Green: ¼ cup of strained green grape and pear puree (½ green pear, a handful of grapes, and several spinach leaves)
Blue: ¼ cup of blueberry puree (approximately ¾ cup of blueberries)
Purple: ¼ cup of strained blackberry puree (1 cup of blackberries – extra berries are needed because they must be strained).
Additional Notes:
Each color makes enough to fill 1 baking tray.
The nutrition information is calculated using strawberry puree. Values for other flavors will depend on the fruit selected.
Some purees may need to pass through a fine mesh strainer before they are mixed with the yogurt, depending on the fruit and your preference.
When working with thicker fruits such as mangoes, add a small amount of water to the blender to help it blend smoothly.
Storage Instructions
After the yogurt bites have frozen solid on the baking tray, move them into an airtight container or a sealed freezer bag and return them to the freezer.
When stored correctly, yogurt bites keep in the freezer for 1–2 months. Remove only the amount you plan to eat, since they will begin to thaw outside the freezer.
