Have you ever tried making slime at home? It’s genuinely a lot of fun! If your children adore unicorns and enjoy slime, they’re sure to love this unicorn slime. You can also customize this unicorn slime with your preferred colors! We chose classic unicorn shades – pink, blue and gold. However, you could create a rainbow version or include purple or green as well!

This unicorn slime consists of 3 separate shades of glitter slime. This technique for creating glitter slime is the simplest option and can be modified for any color! So go ahead and adjust the recipe using whichever unicorn colors you prefer.
After preparing your colorful glitter slime, arrange the different colors beside one another so they can merge together.
Enjoy playing with the slime by itself, or add it to a party favor for a unicorn-themed celebration.
After finishing the slime, simply swirl the colors together to transform it into unicorn poop! (We know it’s silly, but the kids will find it hilarious!).
Supplies Needed to Make Unicorn Slime
Complete each of the following steps for every color (you’ll need to prepare 3 batches of the glitter slime to create your unicorn slime)
For each batch:
- 1 bottle of Elmer’s glitter glue (6 oz) – we chose pink, yellow, and blue and made the recipe three times. Note: this recipe was tested with Elmer’s glitter glue. Avoid replacing it with another glue because the ingredients may differ and the slime might not turn out properly
- Pink, Gold, and Blue Glitter – add plenty of glitter to achieve the same sparkling finish. We prefer this brand of glitter. Biodegradable glitter is another option.
- 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda
- 1½ tablespoons of Contact lens solution. **Important: the contact lens solution you choose needs to list boric acid and sodium borate among its ingredients. These components react with the glue and create the slime. Renu Fresh includes Boric Acid and Sodium Borate. Don’t replace it with a different brand. Read the label before purchasing to confirm it contains the required ingredients.
- Water – pour in up to 1/4 cup of water for stretchier slime

How to Make Unicorn Slime
1. Choose a bowl in which to combine your slime ingredients.
2. Empty the entire 6 oz bottle of Elmer’s Glitter glue into the bowl.
3. Sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and stir well.
If you’d like a stretchier slime, add up to 1/4 cup of water as well.
4. Sprinkle in the glitter, then keep stirring.
5. Gradually pour in the contact lens solution (Reminder: the contact lens solution must contain boric acid, otherwise your slime will not come together).
Pour it in little by little, mixing as you go, so you can control the amount and avoid adding too much.
We usually add a few teaspoons at a time before stirring.
Before adding more, knead and blend the mixture well. Too much solution can make your slime overly firm.
You might not use the entire quantity, so proceed gradually.
6. Continue mixing until the slime comes together and starts to firm up.
Remove it from the bowl and knead it repeatedly. Forming the slime properly may require more kneading than you expect. At this stage, it will be extremely sticky, especially when water has been added. Continue pulling and working the slime until the stickiness decreases.
If the texture is not quite right, continue kneading. To keep the slime from becoming too firm, add only a small amount of contact solution, one teaspoon at a time.
Should it remain excessively sticky, apply a little lotion or baby oil to your hands.
Your slime is ready, so have fun playing with it! Combine the colors, or enjoy them individually to preserve each shade.
