Mother’s Day Photo Frame Card Craft
For this photo frame card, gather cardstock in the colors you prefer, markers in a variety of shades, acrylic paint in your chosen colors, 4×6 photographs, and scissors.

Step-by-Step Directions for the Photo Frame Card Craft
Choose a full sheet of cardstock in whatever color you like.
Fold the cardstock into two equal halves. Since this is a horizontal card, it opens from the bottom, although the same technique works for vertical cards as well.
Position the photograph in the middle of the cardstock’s front panel. With a pencil, indicate where the cuts should go on both sides of the photo. Each cut should match the photograph’s height and be approximately ½ an inch shorter at both ends.
Next, an adult should carefully place the sharp tip of the scissors on the marked lines and create the two openings.
Check that the photograph can slide through the cuts. Trim a very small amount more if necessary until it fits properly. Slightly uneven edges are fine, but you may smooth them with a nail file if desired.
Keeping the photograph in place, draw curly lines around the borders of the card frame with a green marker. We also added the word “mom” across the bottom of the card.
Remove the photograph from the slots, then prepare the paints for the flowers. We chose pink, purple, yellow, and blue. Place one finger into a paint color.
Create flowers along the curly lines by making 5 fingerprints in a small circle.
Use additional colors to add even more flowers.
After completing the flowers, dip your finger into a different paint color and add the centers. Allow the paint to dry fully.
After the paint has dried, slide the photograph into the slots again.
To finish, write your Happy Mother’s Day greeting inside the card.
This wonderfully sweet card is sure to become a keepsake Mom will enjoy for many years! It’s practical too, since the card can be opened and displayed on a table as a real photo frame. It’s hard to make it more personal than that.

Instructions
- Select a complete sheet of cardstock in the color you prefer.
- Crease the cardstock in half. Because it is a horizontal card, it opens from the bottom, but this approach can also be used for vertical cards.
- Center the photograph on the front of the cardstock. Mark the cutting points on each side with a pencil. The openings should be as tall as the photograph and roughly ½ an inch shorter on each end.
- Have an adult carefully guide the pointed end of the scissors along the pencil marks to make both cuts.
- Verify that the photograph slips through the openings. If necessary, trim a tiny bit more until the photo fits.
- Leave the photograph in the card and use a green marker to draw curly lines around the card frame’s edges. We also placed “mom” along the lower edge of the card.
- Take the photograph out of the slots and collect the flower paints. Our colors were pink, purple, yellow, and blue.
- Dip one finger into a chosen paint color.
- Form flowers along the curly lines by stamping 5 fingerprints in a small circular arrangement.
- Add more blossoms using different colors.
- Once the flowers are done, use another paint shade on your finger to create their centers.
- Allow the paint to dry completely.
- When the paint is dry, slide the photograph into the openings again.
- Finish by writing your Happy Mother’s Day greeting inside the card.
Notes
There’s no need to worry if the photograph cuts have uneven edges; you can smooth them with a nail file whenever you’d like.
