When the weather turns chilly and you feel like a snowman, step indoors, warm up, and transform yourself into one with this delightful Snowman Photo Craft! Adding a picture makes this snowman a wonderful winter keepsake.
To make creating our snowman photo keepsake craft simpler, we’ve included a Free Printable Snowman Template with most of the required pieces. Use it to assemble a snowman, attach a photograph, and add a few cardstock strips to complete this adorable winter project.
Use the included top hat to decorate your snowman, or create ear muffs with two simple circles and a curved paper strip. The photo is the most important detail, however, since it gives this snowman craft its charming personality.
Snowman Photo Winter Keepsake Craft
To begin our snowman craft, print the snowman template.
Gather cardstock in white, black, brown, and any colors you prefer, along with photographs, a 2” circle paper punch and a ⅝” circle paper punch for making ear muffs, a flower paper punch, plus a black marker, scissors, and a glue stick.

Winter Snowman Craft Step by Step Directions
First, print the snowman template onto white cardstock or paper.
Trim out the snowman base. Trace it onto the cardstock color you selected, then cut it out. Blue shades are perfect for winter, though purple is another color we enjoy using.
Cut out the circles, keeping them white.
Next, cut two narrow brown cardstock strips for the arms. Attach the arms to the base with glue.
Start gluing the circles onto the center of the base, matching each one with its proper size.
After that, use a 2” circle paper punch to cut a face from a photograph. Check the punch’s bottom window carefully so the face is positioned exactly where it should be, since you only get one opportunity. You wouldn’t want to ruin a photograph.
Then, glue the photograph face onto the middle of the top circle.
For this snowman, we’re making ear muffs, so we punched out two little circles with a ⅝” circle paper punch. We also referred to the template to create the curved piece that rests over the head.
Glue all the pieces together to create the ear muffs.
Next, cut three strips from a different cardstock color. Make one long enough to span the snowman’s neck, and cut the remaining two slightly shorter.
Position and glue the strips to create a scarf.
As the final touch, use a black marker to draw coal buttons down the front of this incredibly cute, sweet, and cool snowman keepsake photo craft.
For a snowman wearing a top hat, cut the hat design from the template. Trace it onto black cardstock and cut it out. Add a narrow strip as the hatband. We decorated ours with a flower made using the flower paper punch, although stickers or buttons would also look great.

Materials
- Snowman Template
- Photographs
- Cardstock – white, black, brown, choice of colors
- Circle paper punches – 2” and ⅝”
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Instructions
- Start by printing the snowman template on white cardstock.
- Cut the snowman base from the template. Trace it onto your chosen cardstock color, then cut it out. Blue shades are ideal for winter, and purple works nicely, too.
- Cut out the circles, leaving them white.
- Next, cut two narrow brown strips to use as arms.
- Glue the arms onto the base.
- Begin attaching the circles to the center of the base according to their matching sizes.
- Then, use a 2” circle paper punch to cut a face from a photograph.
- Glue the face onto the center of the top circle.
- To add ear muffs, punch two small circles with a ⅝” circle paper punch. Use the template to create the curved band that passes over the head. Glue everything together to make the ear muffs.
- Cut three strips from another cardstock color. Make one wide enough to fit around the snowman’s neck, and make the other two slightly shorter.
- Glue the strips into position to form a scarf.
- Finally, draw coal buttons down the front with a black marker to complete this super cute, sweet, and stylish snowman keepsake photo craft.
- To create a snowman with a top hat, cut the hat shape from the template. Trace it onto black cardstock and cut it out. Attach a thin strip for the hatband. We added a flower made with our flower paper punch, but stickers or buttons are great alternatives.
Notes
- When punching a circle from the photograph, look through the punch’s bottom window first. Position the face precisely before pressing, because there is only one chance to get it right. You don’t want to damage a photograph.
